Technoclone Ltd - The Company
Technoclone GmbH was established in 1987 by scientists
from the University of Vienna to provide a way for the latest
laboratory research advances in the rapidly expanding and exciting
field of fibrinolysis to be effectively transferred to the clinical
diagnostic laboratory.
The technology was based on monoclonal antibodies
for use in ELISA systems and Technoclone was the first company
in the world to market a complete range of fibrinolysis tests
based on these antibodies and recombinant proteins.
Technoclone also developed a patented system for
determination of antigen concentration and functional activity
of a specific protein from the same sample (Actibind®) and
was among the first companies world-wide to recognise the importance
of vascular cell culture for research into vascular diseases and
started world-wide sales of cultured cells.
The company’s tradition of close co-operation
with academic institutions continues with participation in research
organisations such as Bio-Molecular Therapeutics (BMT, www.bmt-research.at),
which was founded by the Austrian Government as a joint venture
between academia and partners in industry.
In 1999 the business expanded significantly with
the acquisition of the Baxter Healthcare (formerly Immuno) diagnostics
range. These products include coagulation control, reference and
deficient plasmas, thrombophilia tests, DAPTTIN®, vWF:CBA
ELISA and many others that are now manufactured and distributed
by Technoclone.
Technoclone Ltd was established in the same year
to market the increased range of Technoclone products to our customers
in England, Scotland and Wales as well as in Ireland and Northern
Ireland through our local distributor in Dublin, LanganBach Services
Ltd.
Technoclone Ltd specialises in diagnostics for vascular
diseases with particular emphasis on haemostatic disorders with
the aim of providing our customers with a very comprehensive range
of clinical and research haemostasis assays. This has been achieved
by complimenting the Technoclone range of coagulation and fibrinolysis
assays with specialist lupus anticoagulant and contact activation
products from Unicorn Diagnostics Ltd and Pathway Diagnostics
Ltd to complete our product line.
Our focus at Technoclone Ltd also extends to the
related fields of autoimmune disease and the Complement and Kinin
systems. The company is major supplier of clinical diagnostics
and research reagents in these areas with the Biomedical Diagnostics
(BMD) SA range of autoimmune IFA, ELISA and the new FIDIS multiplex
assay system, together with the specialist Complement assay kits
and research reagents from Quidel Inc.
As a specialised supplier we are highly focused
on the needs of our customers and on providing the highest quality
products and service level.
