Medpharm
Ltd - The Company
MedPharm Ltd is a high intellectual input drug delivery and formulation
development company. The company's core technologies are being
applied to the design of novel formulations of drugs for administration
via the topical, mucosal, nasal and pulmonary routes.
Our team undertakes total pharmaceutical development, analytical
and formulation, for clients: from feasibility to clinical supplies
for phase I/II trials and the technology transfer to manufacturing
sites.
In order to understand the penetration of the skin by drugs and
then screen and optimise the formulations, MedPharm has developed
a variety of experimental in-vitro models, included diffusion
cells using synthetic membranes, human skin and nail. These models
have been adapted to test anti-infective agents in skin and nail
diseases caused by micro-organisms.
The team combines years of commercial experience in the pharmaceutical
industry with the benefit of high calibre scientists and has access
to the resources of King’s College London.
The company has a track record in the pharmaceutics area. The
aim is to support the pharmaceutical / biotech industry for analytical
and novel formulation development and will work, confidentially,
on a fee for services basis while developing its own intellectual
property to develop products with partners.
MedPharm was formed in 1999 and employs 30 staff with
approximately 25 in R&D.
Areas For Potential Collaboration
MedPharm’s strategy is to enter into collaborative partnerships
with pharmaceutical, drug delivery and biotech companies, to develop
and commercialise innovative forms of high value products, or
create new delivery technologies.
MedPharm’s key ways for collaboration are:
 |
By ‘Evaluation
and Option’ agreements where the company formulates
and optimises the Client’s drug in our laboratories. |
| |
OR |
 |
Use of proprietary technologies
for out licensing to third parties on an exclusive world-wide
basis by ‘Licensing and Technology Transfer’ to
the Client with comprehensive technical support. |
In-licensing
MedPharm is open to acquiring drug delivery approaches from other
companies and research institutes. MedPharm is also interested
in identifying projects that require formulation input to develop
a product to phase I/II clinical evaluation.
Future commercialisation Strategy
MedPharm will commercialise its technologies and products via
collaboration with partners. The company seeks partnerships at
various stages of early drug development and requires partners
to fund development of projects.
