FARMOVS
PAREXEL (Pty) Ltd - The Company
The FARMOVS-PAREXEL Clinical Research Organisation
at Bloemfontein, South Africa, was founded in 1975 as a Phase
I testing facility under the name of FARMOVS. By 2001, having
joined the PAREXEL Network in 2000, the Unit had grown to a comprehensive
research facility capable of study conduct up to Phase III, incorporating
210 well-trained employees. Since the founding of the Unit we
have performed over 1800 Phase I-III studies – 200 in the
last three years alone, including numerous "First in Man"
and "Proof of Concept" studies. We collaborate closely
with the Medical School of the University of the Free State.
Scientific expertise in the Unit extends to a great
number of medical fields, including antiviral therapy (e.g. HIV),
asthma, diabetes, cardiovascular disorders and many more. Quick
access to various trial populations is available, among them healthy
young and elderly volunteers, asthmatics, diabetics, post-menopausal
women and HIV patients.
FARMOVS-PAREXEL also possesses well-equipped clinic
facilities enabling us to conduct ambulatory, as well as stay-in
trials. Specialized equipment includes a 6-bed glucose clamp unit,
a pulmonary laboratory (including plethysmography) and cardiac
surveillance facilities (including QTc analysis, treadmill and
Holter ECG).
There is also a bio-analytical laboratory and a
biometrics division offering services for drug or matrix analyses
as well as data management and biostatistics.
Expert Pharmacological Network of Trials
Worldwide
In an increasingly globalized market, your partner
in pharmacology studies should meet the same international standards
as you do – which is one of the PAREXEL Clinical Pharmacology
International Network’s most important assets.
With Units in Germany, France, the United Kingdom,
the USA and South Africa, we are able to provide rapid, cost effective
and high quality conduct of all types of Phase I and IIa studies
and programs. Each Unit has its special focus and characteristics,
so that overall expertise in all medical fields can be provided,
including study types varying from "First in Man" to
"Proof of Concept" as well as bioequivalence studies.
Scientific expertise can be shared within the network for our
clients’ individual requirements.
Our trial procedures are globally standardized
through our world-wide Quality Assurance. All of the Units are
located at hospitals, a majority of which are university medical
facilities. The network also includes two excellent laboratories
for Bio-analytical Services located in the French and South African
Units.
We tailor our services to meet your individual requirements.
Large programs can be distributed throughout our Clinical Pharmacology
International Network offering you the most appropriate volunteers
and volunteer patients and specific expertise. Due to our global
presence seasonal disorders testing can be conducted throughout
the year incorporating our Southern Hemisphere Unit in Bloemfontein.
Working together within the Network or locally in
the Units, we are dedicated to fulfilling our clients’ needs
as thoroughly as possible, at the highest quality available. We
care about your success!
