Of Allergan Pharmaceuticals Inc.
Allergan Westport presently employs approx. 800 personnel in
the manufacture of Sterile Pharmaceutical products for the Global
Ophthalmic and Neurological market. The largest Allergan manufacturing
facility worldwide, the Westport facility has grown continuously
over the last 27 years and meets U.S. and European GMP / Regulatory
requirements.
The Corporation recently announced its strategy to spin off its
Ophthalmic Lens Care business and focus its energies on developing
into a hi-tech Specialty Pharmaceutical company. As a result,
Allergan will cease to produce Lens Care products from mid 2005.
The Lens Care spin off has created space and capacity in the Sterile
Core / Support areas of the Westport site and provides an opportunity
for possible Third Party Contract work with a partner of choice.
